What is the main purpose of the Mary E. Bivins Foundation?
The Mary E. Bivins Foundation is committed to improving and enriching the quality of life in the 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle by meeting the physical, mental, social and spiritual needs of the people of the region. In this spirit, the primary operations are conducted through the Lee Bivins and Betty Bivins Childers Foundations. These Foundations are dedicated to helping individuals achieve and maintain dignity, independence, self-worth and good health, regardless of their socioeconomic status.
How long has the Mary E. Bivins Foundation been in existence?
In 1949, Mary Bivins established the Mary E. Bivins Foundation as a nonprofit, religious, charitable and educational undertaking to benefit the people of the Texas Panhandle. As a testament to the passion and generosity that Mary E. Bivins showed to the elderly population in the Texas Panhandle, the Elizabeth Jane Bivins Home for the Aged was opened in 1951. The Elizabeth Jane Bivins Home, a 38-bed intermediate nursing care facility, was designed to meet all the needs of its residents, including medical, nutritional, emotional and spiritual, in a home-like setting.

There are approximately 300 employees within the Bivins Foundations whose main purpose is to provide care for those who come to us for retirement and/or medical care.

Between the Lee Bivins Foundation and the Betty Bivins Foundation, we operate Bivins Memorial, Bivins Village I, Bivins Village II, Childers Place and the EJB Culinary Center.

What is the waiting time for residence in the Bivins Homes?
Waiting times depend on the type of home and services your loved one requires. We are currently taking applications at the new Childers Place. Waiting times for most of our other properties range from six months to two years.
